This Privacy Policy explains how LA Roof Shield ("LA Roof Shield," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses and retains personal information in connection with laroofshield.com (the "Site") and the contractor matching service we provide (the "Service").
LA Roof Shield is an independent directory and referral service. We are not a licensed contractor and we do not perform roofing work. The core purpose of the Service is to share your contact details with independent roofing contractors so that they can contact you. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, that disclosure may constitute a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. You can opt out at any time — see Your California Privacy Rights.
When you submit a quote request form or call the number shown on the Site, we collect:
We do not ask for and do not want your Social Security number, driver's licence number, financial account numbers, payment card details, government identification numbers, health information, biometric data, precise geolocation, or account credentials. Please do not include any of that in a free-text field. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16 years of age, and we do not sell or share the personal information of consumers we know to be under 16.
We do not use your personal information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not engage in profiling for those purposes.
When you check the consent box and submit a form, you give your prior express written consent for LA Roof Shield and the partner roofing contractors to whom your request is transmitted to contact you at the telephone number you provided, including:
Consent is not a condition of purchase of any goods or services. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. You may still request quotes without giving this consent by calling us directly on (800) 555-0164.
You may revoke consent at any time, by any reasonable means. Specifically, you may:
We will honor a revocation as soon as practicable and in no event later than ten (10) business days after receipt. Revoking consent applies to communications from us. Contractors who have already received your request are separate businesses and are separately responsible for their own compliance; you should also tell them directly to stop contacting you, and you may tell us and we will pass the request on. We may still send you a single confirmation message acknowledging that you have opted out.
Calls to or from the number shown on this Site may be monitored or recorded for quality and compliance purposes. California is a two-party consent state; where a call is recorded you will be notified at the start of the call and may decline.
This is the primary disclosure and the point of the Service. When you submit a request, the personal information described in section 1.1 is transmitted to one or more independent roofing contractors that serve the area and category of your request. Those contractors are independent businesses, not our agents. Once they receive your information they act as independent controllers of it and their own privacy practices apply. We do not control, and are not responsible for, how they use it. We encourage you to ask any contractor for their own privacy policy.
We use service providers who process personal information on our behalf and under contract, limited to the purposes we specify: website and database hosting, form processing, email and SMS delivery, analytics, security and fraud prevention. These are "service providers" or "contractors" as those terms are defined in the CCPA, and they are contractually prohibited from selling or sharing your personal information or using it for their own purposes.
We may use advertising and analytics technologies that set cookies or similar identifiers and that may receive online identifiers and internet activity information. Depending on configuration, this may constitute "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under the CPRA. See section 7 and section 8.
We may disclose personal information where required by law, subpoena, court order or governmental request; to establish, exercise or defend legal claims; to protect the rights, property or safety of any person; and in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, in which case we will require the recipient to honor this Policy or provide notice of any material change.
We do not sell your personal information to data brokers for their independent resale, and we do not disclose your information for purposes unrelated to obtaining roofing quotes.
Where business listings, ratings or review excerpts appear on this Site, they are supplied by Google and are displayed for informational purposes only. We do not author, solicit, edit or incentivize reviews. Google's own privacy terms govern that data.
We retain quote request records and the personal information within them for as long as needed to provide the Service and thereafter as required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce agreements. In practice: consent records are retained for at least five (5) years to satisfy telemarketing recordkeeping expectations; request and matching records are retained for up to three (3) years; server and analytics logs are retained for a shorter period, typically up to twenty-four (24) months. When a retention period ends we delete or de-identify the information.
The Site uses a minimal set of cookies and similar technologies for essential operation, measurement and advertising attribution. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking all cookies may affect Site functionality.
Global Privacy Control. We recognize and honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) opt-out preference signal. If your browser or extension transmits a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of the sale and sharing of personal information for that browser and device. Because a browser signal cannot be tied to a form submission you made previously, please also use the request method in section 8.4 if you want the opt-out applied to your existing record.
This section applies to California residents and is provided under the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CCPA"). This Site is directed at California homeowners, so this section is the operative one for most of our users.
In the preceding twelve (12) months we have collected the following categories of personal information:
Sensitive personal information. We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by the CCPA, and therefore we do not use or disclose it for purposes that would trigger the right to limit its use.
Transmitting your contact details to roofing contractors so they may contact you is done for valuable consideration and is therefore treated by us as a "sale" of personal information under the CCPA. Our use of advertising and analytics technologies may constitute "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising. The categories involved are identifiers, commercial information, internet activity and inferences. We do not sell or share the personal information of consumers we know to be under 16 years of age.
Submit any request — including an opt-out of sale and sharing — by either of the following methods:
You may also enable a Global Privacy Control signal in your browser, which we honor automatically as an opt-out for that browser and device (section 7).
Verification. To protect you, we verify requests before acting on them. For access and deletion requests we will ask you to confirm information already in our records, such as the telephone number, email address and ZIP code submitted with the request. We may require additional matching data points for requests seeking specific pieces of personal information. We will not ask you for a government identification number. An opt-out of sale or sharing does not require verification.
Authorized agents. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with written permission signed by you. We may contact you to confirm the authorization and to verify your identity directly, unless the agent provides a valid power of attorney under Cal. Prob. Code §§ 4000–4465.
Timing. We acknowledge receipt within ten (10) business days and respond substantively within forty-five (45) calendar days, extendable once by a further forty-five (45) days where reasonably necessary, with notice to you. Opt-out requests are actioned within fifteen (15) business days.
If we decline. If we deny a request in whole or in part, we will explain why, identify the statutory basis, and tell you how to appeal our decision by replying to the same address. If you are dissatisfied with the outcome you may lodge a complaint with the California Privacy Protection Agency (cppa.ca.gov) or the California Attorney General (oag.ca.gov/privacy).
California Civil Code § 1798.83 permits California residents to request information about disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. You may make that request to privacy@laroofshield.com. In practice, the disclosure described in section 4.1 is the relevant one, and you can opt out of it under section 8.4.
Residents of other US states with comprehensive privacy laws may have comparable rights of access, correction, deletion, portability and opt-out of targeted advertising and the sale of personal data. We apply the processes in section 8.4 to those requests as well. The Service is directed at California properties; if you contact us from another state, tell us so and we will apply the rights available to you.
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit and access controls on our databases. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The Site may link to third-party websites, including contractors' own websites and government resources such as cslb.ca.gov. We do not control those sites and this Policy does not apply to them.
We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change, and material changes will be prominently indicated on this page. Continued use of the Site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
